Endangered Species: One Player Games

For the purposes of this article, I will not be acknowledging games for young children. The one player games and gaming discussed here will refer to games for ages 13 and up.

While there are a large number of high-quality video games hitting the market every year, there is one 'genre' that is on its way to being forgotten. One Player Games. Or even, for that matter, non-PvP (Player vs Player) games.

Lately, the vast majority of new games have one purpose, and one purpose only, Player vs Player combat. While these games do have their place, there is more to gaming than simply running around shooting at each other. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the violence, far from it. But the fact is that the bulk of these games all share a number of common problems.

For starters, the unofficial (and often hidden) "teams", which are really more like gangs. Groups of friends that band together in-game to hunt down and harass new players. Often to the point where the new players have no chance of progressing and simply quit playing out of frustration. If the people doing this stopped and thought about it for a moment, they would see how they are ruining these games for themselves as much as anyone.

Another problem is the lack of originality. The majority of these gamea the weapons, does not make it an original game.

The third major problem with the flood of PvP games, is the real-world affects of them. These games create an enormous amount of competitive behavior. We are all aware of the 'gaming addictions' that can affect people. Competition is an addiction in its own right. The combination creates something akin to digital crack. I would be willing to bet good money that if a survey was ever done, it would reveal that the vast majority of gaming addicts are hooked on multiplayer FPS games. I personally know many people that spend nearly every waking minute glued to the screen trying to climb from #375 to #374 on some leader board.

So why not some one player games? Take the newer Fallout games for example, great graphics, cool environment, and intense game play (at higher difficulty levels). And you get it all without being chased by packs of teenagers you've never heard of, or the constant flood of infantile remarks in the chat. Just straight up gameplay without the garbage. Games such as Fallout, Skyrim, Anno, Civilization, Final Fantasy, they all prove that there can be great, innovative, one player games.

Many people are only interested in these games. Myself, I have spent many hours playing many multiplayer games. But after a time I found that the garbage out weighed the play. I've since sworn off multiplayer. I know a number of people personally that have done the same, or had no interest in multiplayer to begin with.

But there is a problem for us lovers of solo games. Each year there seems to be less and less good games made for us. It doesn't have to be that way though. There are a couple things that we can, and should do. First, don't pirate your games. If you're a lover of one player games, buy them! Show the game creators that there is still a market there. And if you're really passionate, do what I do. Whenever a new multiplayer-only game gets released, I email the company that made it and say something like,

"Can you please, please please make this playable in single-player?"

Try it! You likely won't get a response. If you do it will be a brush off. But if enough people do it, for enough games, it just might get these companies to reconsider releasing these games as multiplayer only. So take a few minutes and do your part. No one else will.

Happy Gaming!

WW2 Last Defense

Welcome to my game guide. Today I will be reviewing a flash game called WW2 Last Defense. What is this game about? Well, according to the author's description, "As you might guess, you are the last defense. You've had your team to back you up all along but it's now at the last straw and it's just you left. Defeat the incoming assault of German enemies."

This game is set during War World 2 (WW2), which is common history for most but in case you need a quick background check here we go. WW2 also known as the Second World War was one of the largest global wars that occurred between 1939 and ended in 1945. This war included most of the world's nations divided into two categories, the allies and the axis powers. It had a huge impact on the world, even to this day as demonstrated by the creation of this game.

So everyone all caught up? It was a big war, a lot of fighting and the Germans were considered the "bad guys". This game starts by detailing your situation; A bunch of german soldiers are headed your way and you are the last soldier of your troop to defend the line.

Controls:

Arrow Keys to move (You only really need to move left and right).Space is used to shoot a bullet.

A few enemies will come down, just shoot them until the day is complete. You will then be brought to an "Upgrade Screen" where you have two upgrade options:

Increase Damage by 25%Increase Movement Speed by 50%

Now, you can choose whatever you want but I would recommend starting off with a little movement speed, because eventually the enemies will come at such a fast rate you need to be able to travel fast enough to shoot them! Always keep this upgraded but here is the key with the damage modifier: Always upgrade your damage to the point where it takes less than 3 shots to kill an enemy. If you don't follow that simple rule then the enemies will QUICKLY overwhelm you.

Summary of upgrades:

There are two upgrades: Speed boost and Damage boostMake sure it never takes more than 2 shots to kill an enemyUpgrade your speed if you are already two-shotting enemies

Now just rinse and repeat! It's a very simple game but it gets hard FAST.

My honest opinion:

It is an above average flash game but not great. I would give it a 6/10. The graphics are pretty good but not necessarily put together well. Certain design features clash but it's still appealing in most areas. Go ahead and try this game but don't expect a masterpiece.

Have fun and enjoy!

My name is Eric Smith and I program flash games on my free time. Do you like WW2 Games? Well check the best online at WW2 Games

Gaming Monogamy

Ever since I've been gaming I've been known to devote myself to games that I love. I go to bed wishing I could play longer, have vivid dreams as though I'm still playing and spend days in a row playing for as long as possible. This cycle appears endless as, in being asked to put together a list of my favourite games, it continued to appear and reappear the further my list grew, so much so that it has almost become the common denominator. Upon considering this pattern along with recent experiences, I've come to consider myself a 'Gaming Monogamist'.

Over the past month or more I've been playing more games than I can remember. This is in part due to both sales which have caught my eye and my commitments with Indie Sandwich. However, I don't think I've sunk as many hours into, nor enjoyed myself during this time to the same degree with which I have with any of the games on my list of favourites. When I consider that most of these games are described as great often both critically and among my peers there is only one factor which can explain my less than enjoyable experiences of late; I've been playing too many at once.

Perhaps I've been getting caught up in the lure of my newly found free time; attempting to get the most out of it by devouring any and every one I could get my hands on. One thing I am certain of, is that I am not enjoying myself with some games because they were simply not meant be played in short sporadic bursts. For example, Heroes of Might and Magic IV doesn't appear to lend itself to this type of play as the story is involved, there are more units or creatures than one can name off hand while all of this is intertwined into over 100 hours of gameplay. I found Might and Magic enjoyable that is for sure but nowhere near in the same degree as others simply because I haven't played it to the point where I truly know how the game works and how the story might unfold. I liken this feeling to someone attempting to become a marathon runner but only deciding to run as far as five kilometres; they are never going to understand the true experience.

Interestingly enough thinking of other games in my recent feast my monogamy began to show through again. Rayman Origins, for instance, I continually found myself going back to time and time again. This is likely due to its more casual nature or even familiar platforming setting which eased me in on each play and allowed for more instant enjoyment. Nevertheless I was excited about the game and couldn't wait for my next chance to play it until, eventually, it became the only game I was playing; if I were asked 'what game did you play this week? it was my enthusiastic answer. I define gaming monogamy as the all encompassing feeling of love for a game; it becomes all you think about, all you talk about and all you play while the feeling remains. Rayman Origins was one of the few games able to, oh so figuratively, sweep me off my feet.

As I write this article I am restlessly waiting to be reacquainted with my current love in Diablo III. I am uncertain whether others experience this phenomenon, if it could be called that, but it is clear to me that gaming monogamy is well and truly a part of my identity as a gamer and I never want to change.

Game Copy Wizard in my opinion is the best thing... and let me explain why. If you are an avid gamer then you must knowing how important it is to have backups of your games available. Although it's your legal right to have personal back up copies of your gaming files and other information attached with the games. Like me, many of you must have gone through the consoles Xbox 360, Nintendo, almost all PlayStations, GameCube and many more down the line.

What is Game copy wizard?

The wizard works by allowing you to produce the amazing quality back-up or copy of your favorite games for absolutely any type of game console. Munchkin: The Card Game

"Kill the monsters. Steal the treasure. Stab your buddy."

These three tenets, emblazoned on the box to the dedicated card game Munchkin, is a fairly accurate assessment of what you can expect when your group of 3-6 players sits down to play a game. Munchkin is essentially a dungeon crawling style role-playing game, just without the pencils and paper, heavy rulebooks, and role-playing. Much of the seriousness is removed as well, since nearly every card is dripping in satire lampooning traditional D&D styled games. Humor which is only built upon with cards brilliantly illustrated by John Kovalic, best known for his Dork Tower comic series.

So if you take all that boring stuff out of a role-playing game, what does that leave, you ask? Namely a faster paced game filled with monsters, loot and experience levels. In a race to be the first player to reach level 10, you and your friends will find yourselves teaming up to take down bigger monsters, all the while screwing each other over on a regular basis. The comical nature of the game helps in defusing resentment when a player starts to feel picked on, but the right crowd could still find themselves in heated debates over the occasionally ambiguously worded card. Don't take it too seriously though. Munchkin publisher Steve Jackson Games certainly doesn't, with rules like, "Any disputes in the rules should be settled by loud arguments with the owner of the game having the last word" and cards like Cheat that let you break established rules and equip items that you normally wouldn't be able to.

The game is played with two different types of cards, door cards and treasure cards. All players start as a level 1 human with 'no class (heh heh)' with two of each type of card in your hand. A player's turn begins by entering a new room in the dungeon by 'kicking down the door' (by drawing a door card face up). Door cards often consist of curses/traps, monsters, or cards that modify the player's class or race. If the player isn't forced into battle by drawing a monster face up, they can go 'looking for trouble' and choose to fight a monster by playing one from their hand. There's a wide array of monsters, ranging from a level 1 Potted Plant to a level 20 Plutonium Dragon. Be careful not to bite off more than you can chew, though. Opposing players can make your fight tougher by playing cards on your monster that gives it bonuses such as Enraged or Intelligent, increasing its fighting power.

Defeating a monster in combat will net you an experience level and some treasure. Treasure cards are usually items that modify your combat rating such as the Mace of Sharpness or the Big Rock or special cards like Bribe The GM With Food, which allows you to immediately go up one level. If you're unable to defeat the monster, you'll have to roll the die to run away. Fail to escape and you are forced to face the Bad Stuff, consequences of your defeat that are unique to each monster. Lose a fight to a level 10 Floating Nose and you might only lose a level. Go up against a level 18 Bullrog and fail and you might get killed, forcing you to start back at level 1 and draw a new hand of cards. If you're in a tight spot, you can try to convince someone at the table to help you in battle, adding their battle rating to yours, but they're not likely to help you out for free, and you might need to watch your back.

The game is published by Steve Jackson Games, a company that has created and published a myriad of card, board and role-playing games for over 30 years, including Car Wars, Chez Geek, and GURPS (Generic Universal Role Playing System). Since its original publication in 2001, Munchkin is far and away one of SJ Games' best sellers. No wonder, since it's such a fun and amusing game, and good for small to medium groups. In addition to multiple expansions, there have also been several spin-offs such as Munchkin Conan, Munchkin Zombies, western-themed The Good, The Bad and the Munchkin, and the upcoming Munchkin Apocalypse. Several Munchkin titles are available at your local Slackers today, and according to SJ Games, all spin-offs and expansions are compatible with the original Munchkin base game.

Why Play HTML5 Games Instead of FLASH?

The first reason is that flash games aren't always made for mobile phones. This is the sad truth that not many people even know about. So many people assume that once you get a mobile phone such as an iPhone or something similar you can access any game you want. Sadly, you can't always do that. You only have a limited space and generally many games require the addition of flash applications in order to work like they are supposed to. That's means more waiting for you. Plus if you are in an area with little service for your phone, you won't get that application at all.

The second reason is you can take your arcade with you no matter where you are. The idea of having your favorite HTML5 game with you where ever you go is a fantasy for many many people. All you need is just a browser and internet access. And now with addition of free mobile games, you can have your arcade with you every where. Many times you only are required to download the game once and play it anywhere without the need to have internet connection.

The third reason is that HTML5 games are normally free and don't cost you a cent. This is considered the best part to most gamers. Mobile HTML5 games are normally free. There may be a handful that cost a dollar or so but those games tend to be more advanced. The fact that you have the choice of millions of free mobile games is amazing. This means your personal arcade can be massive.

The fourth reason is that there are a wider range of games to play online then ever before. Because of the popularity of tablets, advanced phones and even eReaders, there are tons of free arcade games online. Plus more games are added daily to fill every possible gaming need you have. The possibilities are basically endless.

The fifth reason is that it's simply just more fun and much easier than any other option. Why spend money on flash games when HTML5 games provide the same quality of entertainment without the added stress or expense. You don't need to sacrifice fun any longer because free mobile games are much more fun to play any way.

As you can see there are tons of reasons why playing HTML5 games is the better option for you. The flash games simply aren't made for mobile phones all the time. Your arcade will travel with you, the games are normally free or very low cost, there is a wider selection of arcade games than ever before, and lastly mobile HTML5 games are simply more fun.

Here are some more points about why HTML5 is better than flash:

- new technology
- faster
- multi-platform
- support apple devices
- still evolving
- no additional player needed (e.g. flash player)
- no download required
- required HTML5 supported browsers

Sakgames.com provides a wide variety of HTML5 mobile games. Why not check it out? Its fun, free and addictive. Play games now on mobile devices @ http://sakgames.com/

Marketing Video Games - Get Help To Maximize Your Revenues

As an indie manufacturer of video games, you will have a great time using your creativity. However, you'll find it quite difficult to earn money out of your passion because the market for these games is quite saturated. Besides, it is quite difficult to compete against large production houses that have immense budgets at their disposal for marketing video games. You'll need to find a solution to this problem or else you will find it very difficult to stay in business.

The most popular way of marketing video games is to go through an agent. Agents generally have lots of contacts with game portals and will work towards ensuring that your games are featured there. A new development in the industry is the insistence of many game portals of only dealing with agents and not with games developers. You do have to pay money to the agent in lieu of his or her services but the results are generally worth it because you won't have to worry about earning revenues.

An important aspect of marketing video games is building interest for them on the internet through websites and blogs. You'll need to work on search engine optimization in order to ensure that the game is highly visible on the internet. You'll also need to advertise your product in sites where your target market will see them. Marketing is not always an easy job, especially if you prefer to focus on the production aspect of your business. In fact, you probably will miss out on business opportunities if you decide to handle marketing on your own.

It is sometimes a good idea to tie up with companies that take on the entire responsibility of marketing the video game for you. These companies generally offer you comprehensive marketing services on a profit share basis. If you feel that you can handle certain markets on your own but require help for certain types of portals or entire geographic areas then you can opt for limited assistance. Some of these companies will also offer you training and consultancy for a fee so that you can handle marketing on your own.

As you can see, there are many marketing options available to your video game production house. You will be able to choose one that suits your needs the best. Your revenues will get maximized and you will have plenty of time to develop a great many more games.

Get help for marketing video games so that you earn plenty of revenue for your business. You'll then be able to expand your business further.

The Secret World Character Progression Overview

In an any role-playing game, one must know how to develop a character in order to progress deeper into the game. However, unlike most of the MMORPGs, the upcoming game called The Secret World does not have classes nor levelling systems. Instead, Funcom has created a game that allows players to build their own characters through their own choices of weapons, skills, and abilities with the help of talismans, gears, and other consumable items. So what will the player's joinery be like?

Player's progression in reference to the Secret World leveling guide depends on the amount of experience points that players acquire. Players receive experience points mainly by killing monsters, winning in PvP battlefields, completing missions, and crafting items using transcribing system. These experience points are shown at the bottom of the screen in the experience bar. When one third of the bar is filled up, the player receives an ability point. This ability point is to be used to purchase abilities in the ability wheel. There are 525 abilities available for all players, and a player can potentially learn every single ability in this game. However, player must pick 7 active abilities and 7 passive abilities. There are tons of combinations of weapons and abilities that players could try. Using those combinations, players can move further into the game's storyline.

On the other hand, when a player fills up the whole experience bar, the player receives a skill point. A skill point is used to specialize in a weapon. The weapon skills in The Secret World guide contains a levelling system starting from 1 to 10. Players may equip up to two weapons at a time. Each weapon has two roles, where one role is always to damage the target. Second role varies from healing ability, supporting ability, and to player's survivability. For example, weapon skills of hammers include survivability skills such as mitigation buff and increase in health. Whereas, blood magic includes healing ability such as blood shield, which creates a shield-like barrier that helps restore the target's health. By increasing the weapon skills, players may equip stronger weapons, and may develop one's own form of gameplay.

The amount of experience points needed to gain an ability point or a skill point is set statistically by the developer. However, there are tons of battlefields, war zones, and missions that will provide players with experience points. There are xp-bonus for players who have successfully kills a strong monster. There is a coloring system that tells if a monster is lower, equal, or higher than oneself; monsters will be colored green, yellow, or red respectively. Gain as much experience points as possible to build one and only one character in the world.

The Secret World is a recently released massively multiplayer online game developed by the video game developer, Funcom. Learn more about it by visiting http://fycgaming.net/tsw-the-kingsmouth-code-walkthrough-guide/ right now.

Mage Guide - Best Mage Spec for PvE

Since Mages are damage dealers, you can put up quite some damage specialized on any spell line. However, the Fire Mage spec allows you to deal insane amounts of single target and AoE damage, which makes it ideal for PvE. But to squeeze every drop of effectiveness as a Fire Mage, some of the spells in the Fire ability tree must be left out. So, in this short Mage guide I'm going to tell you which talents you should leave out from the Fire tree, and which you should train from the Arcan tree.

Talents to Leave Out from the Fire Talent Tree

Although most of the Fire talents are PvE oriented, focused in boosting your Fire damage single target and AoE spells and reducing the mana cost of your spells, there are a few talents that aren't too helpful for PvE DPS. These are:

Blazing Speed. This improves your movement speed and removes your movement impairing effects when hit by melee or ranged attacks. Needless to say, this is a PvP talent, and it shouldn't be in your DPS Mage spec.

Cauterize. This effects allows you to come back to 40% of your total HP after being hit by an attack that would have normally killed you. However, you will be damaged for 12% of your life for your next 6 seconds. This talent might somewhat help your healers in a raid. But it's best to save those points for something else. This is more of a PvP talent than one for PvE.

Molten Shields. This talent improves your Blazing Shields (a talent that you shouldn't have as a DPS Fire Mage in the first place) and also reduces your Mage Ward spell by 1 second. It is pretty useless for PvE.

Talents to Train from the Arcane Talent Tree

The second part of this short Mage guide refers to the remaining points, 6 to be more specific, after training 35 points in the Fire tree. It's best to train these 6 remaining points in the first Arcane talents. These talents have a direct effect to your DPS effectiveness. The 2 that you should choose are:

Arcane Concentration - grants you a 10% chance to consume no mana on your next spell, after hitting any target with any spell. It's a pretty useful talent for PvE. Saving mana will allow you to cast more spells before hitting Evocation, and therefore to be more effective.

Netherwind Presence - a pretty simple talent, but a PvE-oriented one that increases your global damage by 3%.

I hope this short Mage guide is useful to you.

Mists of Pandaria Pet Battle Categories and Skills

When "Mists of Pandaria" or MoP hits the shelves later this year we will be able to see firsthand what the new Pet Battle System is all about. However, in the meantime, wouldn't it be good to know what will be up against? We do know that are adorable little noncombat vanity pets, also known as pets or companions as they are normally labeled. What kind of skills do these pets have? What we know so far we have learned from the beta release.

As far as we've seen so far there seem to be ten different categories or types of companion pets. Some we are familiar with, such as Flying, Elemental, Mechanical, Humanoid, Critter, Beast, Animal and some were not very familiar with such as Undead, Water, Dragon and Mythical. Now let's break these down and what skills we currently know of:

Flying: Anything that flies that range from balloons to the Rustburg Gull, flying companions are particularly efficient against MMM companions and weaker against water and dragon pets. Known skills consist of Dust Devil (that most likely denies LOS for spells), destructive attacks such as Aerial Ram (this harms your pet also), Gust of Wind, Glancing Blow, and Dive-bomb. Talon Strike and Eagle Eye relate to critical hits.

Elemental: These pets remained elusive during beta.

Mechanical: These hard-core pets are meant to do extra harm to humanoid pets. They also appeared to have a nasty arsenal of powers which include Ion Cannon, Bolt Shock and Beam Cannon. Other skills include a self-buff known as Demolish which appears to be a short-term damage buff and a double attack called the Drill Punch. Another attack which appears to be an AoE stun is called Sonic Boom.

Humanoid: No data on these, but wonder, what happened to the Argent Squire?

Critters: Critters are very closely related to Beasts but appear to be a more "polite" equivalents of them. They also deal more harm to although we have Humanoid pets. Critters use a mixture of defensive with stealthy power. It mimics a Rogue's Stealth and Ambush abilities and combine it into Prowl. They have rushing attacks called Stampede and Tackle, Another unique skill is called Deceit which is capable of damaging its opponents buffs - not their debuffs.

Beasts: These companions are stronger than their Critter counterparts and they use melee. This also means they are slightly outclassed by ranged opponents. As you might have guessed, their skills are fighting powers, but they also have a tad bit of Rogue as well. Slash and Chomp are just basic attacks. To stun an opponent from a distance they use Rushing Charge and Leap. They can even poison with Poison Fang and uses Roar for an AoE debuff.

Animal: Three basic attacks which appear to do much of the same thing are Thrash, Claw and Peck. This category seems to be very weakly designed and will most likely be collapsed unto another category (probably Beast) by the time Mists arrives.

Undead: Although we would have like to have seen one of these companions, we however, did not. What would have been perfect is the tiny Macabre Marionette that you get on the Day of the Dead festival that Blizzard refuses to let us keep.

Water: Water pets will have the added skill of being a combination of melee and healer. Their healing powers include Purify and heal that is an AoE (are we going to group our companions down the line?) called Rejuvenating Rain. Their melee skills include things such as Surge, Snap and Pinch, and they even have a spell called Acid Rain that is an AoE.

Dragon: Well, we all know that dragons are supposed to breathe fire, so it's a sure bet that these companions do, and they do. They can do many in fact, such as Flamethrower, Flamespurt, Dragon's Breath, Pyroclasm and Scorched Earth. They even have a cool physical hit that is called the Tail Sweep that can deal twice as much damage depending on circumstances.

Mythical: This encompasses mystical and magical. What we got was very little information but they do at least have what seems to be a DoT called Mystic Powder, but little else is known about them. Quite possibly a sorcerer (warlock) type companion?

When the combat begins between two companions, the screen zooms in on the little fella's and you get a Combat UI much like you see with all of your mechanicals in World of Warcraft. When pets are not in battle, you can pull up the information screen what tells you what skills your current pet has, and a listing of all available pets. It is greyed out if you do not have the pet yet making this a valuable list for collectors. If a companion is available, it's on that list and is greyed out. That is too cool.

This new Pet Battle System will brings hundreds upon hundreds of hours of entertainment to players and even more to the avid collectors out there. There are about 100 wild companions that need to be hunted for, and then you need to pull out one of your trained pets and go into combat with it. If you are successful and win, you might gain a new companion. You will get that companion at that level with its abilities intact, ready for you to love, nurture and help grow to be a successful little arena master.

The author has been playing World of Warcraft since April 2006 and strives to help other players be their best. Want to up your game even further? There is an add-on (not a book or PDF) available to guide you to every pet in the game, which includes all the available mounts. Visit http://tinyurl.com/petandmountmania for more information. Happy gaming!

Video-Gaming Industry - Sinking Faster Than The Titanic - Here's Some Tips So You Can Stay Afloat

According to the NDP Group, new retail video game hardware and software sales have plummeted in every single month of this year compared to 2011. Industry-wide software was down 37 % in January, 24 % in February and 26% in March of 2012. Hardware and accessory sales are showing similar figures. But what exactly is causing this all?

Although sales in hardware and software are down for every different console, Nintendo is 'suffering' the most. They are the main reason for the industry-wide decline of sales. As you may remember the Nintendo Wii has been a huge success. Both hardware and software sales went to the roof since the Wii got launched in 2006. Nintendo managed to attract consumers that had not yet been a part of the video game market before. But unfortunately that did not last for long and around 2009 these same consumers found alternatives such as mobile phone and Facebook games. Not only did Wii sales go down, but Nintendo's portable consoles suffered as well.

Sony and Microsoft have also seen a decline in their hardware and software sales but less significant than Nintendo, which is impressive, considering the xbox360 and PS3 are almost six and seven years old.

But how representative are NDP's figures? They are leaving out the market for downloadable games. Even on consoles, NPD's data doesn't include significant money made by downloadable content.

So is the gaming industry in as bad shape as NDP suggests? Well, sales are down, that's a fact. Don't forget, we are still in a recession. Video games and consoles are expensive and are considered luxury items. More and more consumers are looking for other ways to acquire content, including full game and add-on content downloads, social network games, mobile games, rentals and subscriptions. But a diehard gamer will not settle for these alternatives. This kind of gamer is looking for high quality games with superb graphics, sound, story lines and great gameplay. Right now there is nothing like an actual game console that can offer this all.

What can a gamer do to fulfill his needs whilst keep a little money in his pocket? Here are some tips for you.

1. Used games

The used games market is growing and is becoming a large part of the revenue of retailers. Also more and more retailers have entered the used games market. Used games are about 25% cheaper than new games.

2. Coupons and vouchers

Coupons and vouchers are offered by retailers and can be found online. They can give you that little extra discount that makes you decide to pull the trigger. The downside is that there are thousands of websites that look for coupons and vouchers and that you have to find the right one that offers working coupons and vouchers.

3. Price comparison websites like Pricegrabber, Nextag or Bizrate can help you find the best deals by comparing multiple retailers. The downside is that these websites are not mainly focused on video games but on all consumer products.

4. Affiliates

An affiliate is a seller that is associated with one or more retailer(s) and receives a commission whenever the affiliate redirects a visitor to the retailer's website which then results in a sale. Affiliates can offer "used games", "coupons and vouchers" and "price comparison" all on one website.

Affiliates are given promotion material by retailers to use on their websites. They also get information about deals and offers, coupons and vouchers which they can use to advertise on their website.

Buying through an affiliate can save you a lot of hassle finding all the best deals, offers, coupons and vouchers yourself. Plus affiliates also offer used games if the retailer that the affiliate is associated to has them to offer. The affiliate can also compare prices and offer you the best deal they can find.

http://www.videogame-offers.com/ searches the web for all the best offers and deals. The website is also full of content to provide the gamer with all the information needed before purchasing a video game. Visit the website and sign up to be the first to know about the best offers and deals.

Roleplaying Games Build Great Core Skills in Young Adults

Roleplaying games build real skills in an enjoyable way

If you start teaching people using Roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons they will be able to learn real life skills without even realising.

Mathematics as a skill is in decline

Using dice to generate numbers has been proven to help people stimulate their ability to perform maths. When an immediate game reward is based on the success of the dice roll it becomes apparent that players try to understand how to improve their success chances.

Skills developed using roleplaying dice rolls are;

Adding various numbers together quicklyBeing able to calculate probability of success of an actionWorking with addition, subtraction, divide, multiply about 15 times an hour of roleplayingAdvanced maths of percentages, statistical deviations, and working out averages

Interacting with a diverse group of people

Nothing builds effective skills in dealing with other cultures and people than a roleplaying game. As a player you get to choose your race and culture and are required to interact with up to eigt other players that have made different choices than you.

Diverse cultures that are interacted with by roleplayers;

Non-humans like elves, dwarves, and creaturesDifferent age ranges (players & characters) from 10 to 1200+The different backgrounds and education of the charactersThe different backgrounds and education of the players themselvesDifferent approaches and respect for many religious viewpoints and behavioursInteraction with the different legal consequences of neighbouring countries that can be visited without leaving the roomAn enormous lexicon of languages, myths, writing, and social behaviours from tribal to world-spanning civilisation

Excellent problem solving skills

At the core of Roleplaying games is the ability to meet problems while in character and come up with solutions for the current problems. This problem solving behaviour can be applied as easily in real life as in roleplaying games.

The process to solve problems is the same and like any new skill, the more times you practice it the better you get. And roleplayers get plenty of practice without any risk to real property, assets or person.

On average a roleplaying game will serve up 10-15 minor problems to be solved and a major problem or two in every eight hour gaming session. This is more effective than any problem solving workshop I have gone to as an adult.

Problem solving skills include;

dealing with difficult negotiationstravelling to one location without having the fundsunderstanding the local economy to trade items betterbeing able to navigate in unknown worlds or locationsresponding to unplanned events that range from low risk to highly dangerous (to the characters not the players)

As you can see these are all core skills to have regardless of the career path you decide later and is a fun and cost effective way to teach kids maths and english skills they will need later.

Power Leveling In Diablo III

Discovering the best power leveling techniques in Diablo III is one thing that enables a lot of gamers have the most fun with the game as they can. Gamers who use these strategies reduce the amount of time they spend at the boring lower levels and learn to supercharge their characters to the highest level. This is where Diablo III gets exciting, with intricate arrays of skills and powers, thrilling adversaries, and magnificent rewards are aplenty. The most effective strategies can be discovered easily with only the best, high quality Diablo III guides.

The basis of just about every power leveling strategy for Diablo III is discovering the activities that produce the greatest return of experience for the time spent for any given class or level. Basically, if grinding (killing monsters repeatedly) will provide a character 500 experience per hour, performing arbitrary quests will provide that same character 800 experience per hour, and carrying out a particular set of quests will deliver you 1,000 XP per hour, the latter choice is the quickest and most desired alternative.

In Diablo II grinding was pretty much the only way to power level. However, with the new revamped and redevelopment of Diablo III, grinding is no longer an efficient method to gain more experience and level up faster. Gamers are better off now performing random quests, although a centered, specific approach produces a lot more rewards in terms of experience.

This is certainly an excellent design choice by Blizzard, in fact, most of the game is invested at the intermediate levels, and it truly is a lot more interesting for the gamer when they can do a variety of things and earn exciting prizes in the process instead of simply beating the identical group of adversaries constantly. Nevertheless, it certainly does make power leveling much more challenging.

Although you could figure out the appropriate sequence of quests to take to be able to speed level from level 1 to level 60 on your own, it would probably take a long time. The whole point of power leveling is not to waste time, but to get to the maximum level as fast as possible.

A better solution to power leveling is to take advantage of more experienced players' knowledge. There are a number of Diablo III guides available online that can provide gamers with an in-depth, structured, quick, and dynamic path to the highest levels in the game, while earning tons of gold and gear on the way.

Find the best Diablo III guide to help you power level and experience everything Diablo III has to offer at http://www.mmo-strategy-guides.com/diablo-3-guides.html

Are you sick of barely dying, especially when you thought you were likely to win the battle? Then you need to most likely have the first aid career! It is important to keep area inside your pocket's simply because you'll have to carry cloth that you simply locate on your travels so you are able to convert them to healing bandages.

It really is common to start thinking about the components aspect from the game for example where to locate the mats you will need. Properly, they are going to be all more than the location so forget that thought now. We have all played the professions that make discovering mats an endless battle, am I right? But, that's not first aid, particularly not with this wow first aid guide. This can be not like herbalism where you have to go out and hunt for them. It could not be less difficult, since they will truly discover you on your journey. Most of my supplies for first aid are found in dungeons while I fight with my clan anyway, so this tends to make it so easy. Just before you get right into a random location to acquire components you need to search about to determine if that place drops a bunch of what you will need first. Reasons Why Leveling to Level 60 Is Essential in TERA

The newest MMORPG, TERA, has taken the video game world by storm with its innovative mixture of MMORPG and action that brings together new and old elements to gamers around the world.

TERA's visual style is comparable to Japanese anime that features a variety of characters, such as the unusual yet funny rat like PoPori. Combine that feel with a no holds barred sense of violent and blood splattering action, the game's developers have created a unique experience. This mixture of game style is spread across TERA's 60 levels of adventure that possesses a complicated leveling process that can be only be mastered with the right guidance.

The motives for reaching level 60 as quickly as possible in TERA are comparable to that in other MMORPG games, but with an added reason too. Your character is obviously at their strongest and most powerful once they reached that coveted highest level. Playing these characters at this level is far more exciting, mainly due to the more expansive range of possibilities that can be uncovered at lower levels. The most rare gear, most destructive weapons, and best armor can be used or worn by them.

The most impressive battles and edge of the seat action are generally present at the optimum level of an MMORPG like TERA. Everything is accessible to your character once you reach level 60. No matter if it's raiding, questing, PvP, or just more exploration, your character will be able to do and see everything in the game. In other words, Level 60 in TERA gives your character independence, strength, exhilaration, treasure, and the game's most extraordinary locations and nasty foes. These are all the reasons gamers play these types of game anyway.

There may be one more reason to get to the highest possible level in TERA as quickly as possible. The game is completely new, and you are going to be able to see everything with a completely fresh point of view and experience the development of the game as it evolves. You may never forget the honor of being one of the very first Level 60 characters in a brand spanking new game.

Every MMORPG include "chains" of quests which should be implemented to provide faster leveling than haphazardly questing through the game. There are some useful guides available that presents a distinct system to adhere to that can guide you down a fast and painless path to the coveted Level 60 and allow you to experience everything TERA has to offer.

Diablo III Wizard Leveling Build

The wizard is one of the newest class additions to the Diablo game series, along with the witch doctor, monk, and demon hunter. It essentially replaces the sorceress that existed in Diablo II.

Leveling a wizard can be extremely time consuming if you don't properly prepare or use the right set of skills. Here are some of the best ways to ensure that you will level as fast as possible while playing a wizard in Diablo III.

First off, it's important to ensure that you do everything you reasonably can to get the best gear on your character for leveling. This doesn't mean that you need to seek out legendary gear but it does mean that you should check the auction house to get the best pieces you can afford as you level. Having good gear means that you'll do more damage and have more vitality; this is important and will increase the speed at which you can level. Other options for getting gear are checking out the vendors in town and using blacksmithing to create gear (you can also have a friend with blacksmithing do this for you).

Also, make sure that you have a ruby placed into the socket in your helm. A ruby in your helm will increase the amount of experience you gain while leveling and dramatically reduce your leveling time.

Finally, for your follower, be sure to choose a Templar so that he can heal you. This will provide you with the best survive-ability, which you will need to make it through Normal to Nightmare, onward through Hell and into Inferno.

While playing the wizard I've developed a build that is designed especially for leveling. It includes using the following skills: Magic Missiles, Arcane Orb, Frost Nova, Wave of Force, Familiar, and Magic Weapon.

For passive skills this build utilizes Glass Cannon, Astral Presence, and Power Hungry.

Remember that you won't get all of these skills right off the bat, so you'll need to be smart about it all and integrate them with the skills you currently have until you have all of the skills available to perfectly match the build.

If you are wondering what to expect when leveling a wizard, in terms of whether or not it will be slower to level than other classes, I can provide some insight since I have played all of the classes in game. If you take the time to get gear, socket your helm, pick the templar as your follower, use this build, and do your best to avoid taking loads of melee damage you will find that you can level as fast as or faster than the other classes in game.

For a link to the build used in this article take a look at this Diablo III Guide.

How Video Games Helped Me Quit Smoking

In somewhat recent years, there was a campaign of anti-smoking commercials from BecomeAnEx.org, and I loved them. It was the first time I felt like someone really discovered the secret to quitting smoking, and offered it from a sympathetic perspective, with a sense of humor and a sincere desire to help smokers.

I have seen many commercials against smoking over the years. Somehave tried fighting cigarettes by unveiling statistics about smoking and its industry, with this self-righteous "look how clever we are" approach that is rather alienating. It's like being told to quit smoking by someone who is more invested in their marketing pitch than the problem at hand.

And then there have been the deluge of "scare tactic" commercials that show you blackened lungs and people living with tracheotomies. While I think these commercials hold some worth, they are more likely to give a smoker pause, rather than actually helping them to quit. Our selective memory kicks in, and kicks out the bad ones.

The aforementioned campaign, however, nailed the essence of the smoking problem in a few brief moments. It pointed out that smoking is strongly connected to habitual behavior; you smoke with your morning cup of coffee, during your morning routine, or during happy hour at the bar. These commercials suggested that you can relearn all of these activities without a cigarette. The one about happy hour even suggested you "keep a beer in one hand and anything but a cigarette in the other". That is smart advice.

Physical addiction of nicotine is nothing when compared to the mental addiction of smoking. This is why wearing a patch doesn't instantly fix the problem; a smoker still wants to hold and smoke a cigarette. Mental addiction is king. I was quite lucky; I gradually gave up smoking simply because I was not enjoying it anymore, and that made it far easier to walk away. But some of that habitual smoking through association was still rearing its ugly head. Getting rid of those last few lines of defense can be the hardest.

When you quit cigarettes (or are in the process of doing so), you may notice certain new habits taking over temporarily. Once of them is the famous one: eating. And other ones pop up, like chewing the caps from pens (until they are completely unrecognizable). However, one activity that interfered with my smoking was entirely by chance, and yet so effective at keeping my mind and body off of smoking, it should be recommended in support groups: playing video games.

It is probably arguable that the total sensory experience of playing a video game contributes in distracting the player from other activities like smoking (or socializing... kidding!), but I believe that the controller is the key. Keeping both hands fully occupied and working hastily makes you forget about holding a cigarette.

And why not? People tend to smoke the most when they are unoccupied, bored and feeling lazy. People smoke on their breaks. People smoke at their laptops and during a football game on television. It's down time, time to drink a beer, have a smoke and watch a movie!

Video games are down time too, but don't allow for a half-hearted relationship with them. I remember when I would play games like Halo 3 online, discussing strategies with friends and controlling my Spartan Soldier. I was way too engaged with the game to smoke (or use the bathroom, for that matter!). In fact, when I would light up a cigarette between matches, I would take my first puff and put it down, as we would already be back in the firefight. By the time I reached for my cigarette again, nothing remained save a long log of ash, burning away in the ashtray. That's a powerful moment to note; I had made my choice. That wouldn't be the last cigarette I ever had. But it wouldn't be the last time I ignored them in favor of playing video games, either.

Playing video games is not a magical solution, and there are a lot of variables when quitting smoking, so your mileage may vary. I already wanted to quit smoking, but video games helped by running interference, and it helped to keep me occupied once I quit smoking entirely.

Around this time, I was spending a good deal of my gaming time with portable systems, like the DS Lite and the PSP (the best part is when you easily justify your PSP purchase, based on the amount of cigarettes you're not buying). When I would return from work and settle down for the evening, I would lie on my back in bed playing games. That worked great for me, as I was in even less of a position to reach for a cigarette, and even more relaxed than normal. That said, I think a stronger case could be made for taking your portable on the go, as it's intended for. Now you're waiting for the subway or sitting during your lunch break at work, and you're working on your game, with no free hands or time to smoke. Try reading the newspaper instead, or worse, just standing or sitting there. Smoking will become a lot more tempting.

I can't stress the importance enough of video games occupying your hands. While Freud would likely tell us smoking is an oral fixation (see: eating, chewing pen caps), we hold a cigarette in our hands; it is part of the appeal. So, when our hands are busy, we are less likely to be holding a cigarette. Playing a game engages the upper half of your body arguably more than driving a car does. When driving, you have one free hand to smoke with. Also, most people drive the same roads ad nauseam, and it largely becomes a mindless activity, second nature even. In contrast, video games frequently change things up, producing new challenges and garnering your full attention just to master (and even survive) them.

And they're fun! Video games cause your brain to release endorphins, much like smoking, but as a result of genuinely enjoying yourself, rather than the intake of chemicals.

Like I said before, video games are not magical, and they are not going to suppress all the addictive urges your body and mind will produce, as you try and quit. Nothing will. When quitting smoking, it's all about help, and what the best crutches are. Video games are a wonderful substitution, and for every cigarette you refuse, that's a little more money in your pocket, money to buy that next awesome game. Personally, I want to live longer and play a lot more games, so it's a win-win situation. If you're quitting or thinking about quitting, or even if you aren't considering it at all, next time you reach for that pack of smokes, try putting both your hands on that video game controller instead.
